We have no problem paying any applicable fees as long as we are aware of them. To charge discretionary fees after the fact with no notice whatsoever is disingenuous and unethical.

However, upon receiving my credit card statement, I was charged a $50 'cleanup' fee, despite the room being left spotless.

Clean and friendly. Nice pool area with hot tub (perfect after a long road trip). Plenty of pillows and a comfy bed. Just wish the pool area stayed open a bit later.

After returning from VIR the following day (I instruct there many times a year), there was a note from the manager (Sandra Taylor) saying the dogs were not service dogs, but rather therapy dogs, and therefor could not return. There was no mention that the dogs had to be removed, or that any fees would be assessed.

I'm actually here right now...laying in bed listening to the stomping above my room that kept me up late and woke me up early. This is a beautiful place to stay. Just stay on the top floor when you do stay here! The walls and ceilings/floors are a bit thin but not too bad. Beds are super comfy. Decorations, layouts, furniture are all superb. Very impressed! I just wish I could have gotten some sleep. Lol. Customer service was great!! Hotel was clean and in a safe area. I'd stay again...definitely would bring ear plugs next time just in case :)

If the property policy is only service animals, then they should have stated such when we called, and also when we checked-in and provided the animal's paperwork.

That Sunday, there was no folio statement under the door, and I did not request one as I left since everything was paid in full.

Nice place. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and adequate. Breakfast was a nice surprise in that there was protein offered and not all starch and carbs. The carpet could use cleaning but overall, a good place to stay.

On the positive side, at least they seemed to have addressed their horrific internet service after complaining about it for years. The women at the front desk are always nice (though they have no authority whatsoever to do anything outside of procedure without management intervention), the rooms are clean & quiet, and the breakfast is decent.

I will be at VIR this coming weekend, instructing; guess where I will not be staying...

Questionable management practices. We phoned to determine whether my girlfriend could bring her 2 therapy dogs. She was told 'as long as they had their papers, there was no issue'. Upon check in, their papers were provided, and everything was a 'go'.

We even left a VM for Sandra twice (before even knowing about the charge, simply to respond to her note). Both messages received no response.

*update* My credit card company contacted the hotel this morning & spoke to Andrew. He said they will not change their policy. I informed him that as I instruct at VIR 6 - 8 weekends a year, I have spent thousands of dollars at their property over the years; it is a foolish business decision to lose that revenue stream over $50.00. He said 'OK' and hung up.

We stayed here 3 nights when my nephew got married nearby last weekend. We were extremely pleased with the accommodations!! VERY clean hotel! Spacious bedroom and bathroom. King room has a large comfy chair, plus a desk and chair. VERY comfortable bed!! Loved having a small refrigerator too! Friendly staff! Great breakfast including hot and cold items. (My favorite was the make your own waffle). This hotel is well taken care of by a caring staff. Housekeeping did a super job each day. My parents were upgraded to a suite. We hung out here each evening as their room had a living room (couch, plush chair, desk chair, refrigerator, wet-bar sink), separate king bedroom plus spacious bath. Furniture throughout is clean and comfy. Highly recommend staying here if you are coming to the area. Great prices and wonderful place to stay.

I've stayed at this property dozens of times, and am chagrined that they 1) said there would be no issue after phoning then reviewing the paperwork at check-in, 2) later clarified their policy mid-stay, and 3) charged a fee without any mention whatsoever despite Sandra leaving a note in our room regarding the issue.
